I know that I am living my good life when I dust the snow from my flip flops after a good half hour, forty five minutes in the sauna and walk back to the house making tracks and feeling the snow melt on my skin. Being one with the environment, feeling comfort and a kind of joyous unbridled connection with all things good about being human makes living in the chaos of life possible. 

Last month I had a wood heater, barrel shaped sauna delivered and installed from Nootka Sauna Co. They hale from Squamish and deliver around North America. Made from coastal cedar and heated by a wood stove made in Finland this Sauna creates the perfect traditional “hot and steamy” experience. 

It has been so great to feel the heat, while the winter cold settles in. Ray built a wood shed for the firewood that Coral carefully cut and stacked in the summer from dead fall on the property. Thank you. Morning or afternoon or evening I start the fire in the stove, peeling the birch bark from the wood and watching it come to life as I touch the lighter to it. Within 20 minutes the space is warm and Steve with boots and bathing suit on, walks to the sauna to warm a body that has held little warmth in the last year. We sit being in this warmth allowing the body to be alive and nourished, Celebrating the connection that endures and as humans is always available if we take the time.
