How Do I Love Thee?

As I sat to write about our Hat Club this poem by Elizabeth Barrett Browning showed up in my head.

How Do I Love Thee?

How do I love thee? Let me count the ways.
I love thee to the depth and breadth and height
My soul can reach, when feeling out of sight
For the ends of being and ideal grace.
I love thee to the level of every day’s
Most quiet need, by sun and candle light.
I love thee freely, as men strive for right.
I love thee purely, as they turn from praise.
I love the with passion put to use
In my old griefs, and with my childhood’s faith.
I love thee with a love I seemed to lose
With my lost saints. I love thee with the breath,
Smiles, tears, of all my life; and, if God choose,
I shall but love thee better after death.

It is the knitters journey to knit hats, sweaters, scarves, blankets and so much more for the people they love. “ How do I love thee? Let me count the ways”.


The Hat Club is the opportunity to explore the conscious knitting of a hat. We begin with the simple and move toward the more complicated, discovering many different kinds of yarn, needle size and patterns. We will come to understand “depth and breadth and height”. 


There is 6 months of knitting in this club. We will meet a couple of times for zoom calls and you are welcome to come on Monday Nights at the store 6:30-8:30pm for conversation, and for the love of knitting.
